Punjab before Independence of India was from Khyber Pass to Delhi and was called Land of Five Rivers . After Independence Punjab territory was from Attari to Delhi and then Punjab was further divided to Three States naming Punjab , Haryana , Himachal Pardesh . The declining at the alarming rate of Under Ground Water Table Level in the foot Gills of Shivalik Hills Range specially Kandi Belt is a serious point of View . As the Ponds are vanishing the Government of Punjab have even constructed check Dams at various areas for recharging of under ground water table level but the out let of Under ground water is much more then recharging . The Punjab Agriculturist should focus on Crop diversification and the People residing in the Urban areas should be motivated towards Rain Water Harvesting system and plantation drive of Green Belts and to bring and brought up of Trees and Plants to keep the environment Eco-friendly .
