It was on 23 rd June 2005 while addressing a public rally on the Martyrdom day of Dr Shayama Parshad Mukherjee who laid down his life for the Unity and Integrity of India Sh Lal Krishan Advani expressed his desire to build a monument in the memory of Dr Shayama Parshad Mukherjee near Madopur Headwork’s Bridge from where Dr Mukherjee crossed the Bridge without Permit to enter Jammu and Kashmir on 11 th May 1953 and was arrested and martyred on 23 rd June 1953 under mysterious circumstances. When in 2007 B.J.P-S.A.D. (B) Alliance came to Power, I as the Leader of the B.J.P. Legislature Group expressed the desire of Sh L.K. Advani to Chief Minister Punjab S Parkash Singh Badal to build a monument in the memory of great Martyr of India Dr Shayama Parshad Mukherjee. Chief Minister Punjab S Parkash Singh Badal readily accepted my suggestion and deputed me as Local Government and Industries Minister Punjab to execute the monument into realization. Then I contacted Sh Balbir Punj the then In charge of Political Affairs of B.J.P. Punjab who suggested me to contact Mr. Tarun Vijay M.P. who had a deep study of the life history of Dr Shayama Parshad Mukherjee. Mr. Tarun Vijay and myself contacted the Sculpture of International Fame Sh Ram Sutaar. It took about Six Months to build the monument. The Statute of Dr Shayama Parshad Mukherjee is 18 Feet in height and has been placed on the 10 Feet pedestal. The said monument named as “EKTA SATHAL “  was inaugurated on March 20 , 2010 by respected Sh Mohan Bhagwat Ji , Sar Sangh Sanchalak , Rashtariya Sawem Sewak Sangh ( R.S.S. ) , Sh L.K. Advani Former Deputy Prime Minister of India , Sh Nitin Gadkari the then National President B.J.P. , Deputy Chief Minister Punjab S Sukhbir Singh Badal . After declaration of Prime Ministerial Candidate in 2013 at Goa Sh Narendera Modi started his Election Campaign on 23 rd June 2013 by paying respect to Dr Shayama Parshad Mukherjee at “EKTA SATHAL “Madopur and became the Prime Minister Of India .On this day I pay respect to the great departed Soul who was born on 6 th July 1901 Dr Shayama Parshad Mukherjee the symbol of Unity and Integrity of India.
