January 14 - Today is Makar Sankranti. Today, Sun God is entering Capricorn. With the entry into Capricorn, the earth starts moving towards Uttarayan. Along with this, the days also start getting longer and the cold of winter season starts reducing. In many places in India, it is also celebrated as New Year. This day is celebrated as Pongal festival in Tamil Nadu. Pongal means to boil. On this day, Gurr and Rice are boiled and offered to the Sun God. Makar Sankranti is also known as Paush Sankranti. It is celebrated with great pomp and show in Bengal. In Assam it is called Magha Bihu festival. Many congratulations to all of you on Makar Sankranti ---- Happy New Year ...

जनवरी 14 - आज मकर संक्रांति है I आज सूर्य भगवान मकर राशि में प्रवेश कर रहे है I मकर राशि में प्रवेश करने के साथ धरती उत्तरायण की तरफ बढ़ना शुरू हो जाती है I इसी के साथ दिन भी बड़े होने लगते है और सर्द ऋतू की ठण्ड कम होने लगती है I भारत में कई सथानो पर इसे नव वर्ष के रूप में भी मनाते है I इस दिन को तामिल नाडु में पोंगल तयोहार के रूप में मनाया जाता है I पोंगल का अर्थ है उबालना इस दिन गुड़ और चावल उबाल कर सूर्य भगवान् को चढ़ाए जाते है I मकर संक्राति को पौष संक्रांति भी कहा जाता है I इसको बंगाल में बड़े धूम धाम से मनाया जाता है I असम में इसको मघा बिहू का तियोहार कहा जाता है I आप सब को मकर संक्रांति की बहुत बधाई ---- नव वर्ष की बधाई ...
