बात उन दिनों की है जब मैं अकाली - भाजपा सरकार में स्थानीय निकाय व् उध्योग मंत्री था तो श्रीमती गीतिका कलहा तत्कालीन मुख्य सचिव, पर्यटन व्  सांस्कृतिक विभाग ने  मेरे पास आई और कहा कि म्युनिसिपल कारपोरेशन अमृतसर की ईमारत "पार्टीशन म्यूजियम" बनाने के लिए चाहिए जिसको मैंने सहर्ष स्वीकार कर लिया  जिसमे आज "पार्टीशन म्यूजियम" स्थापित है I इस तरह वख्त ने मुझे "पार्टीशन म्यूजियम" के इतिहास का हिस्सा बनने का अवसर प्रदान  किया  I

On March 15, 2019,  I visited "PARTITION MUSEUM" Amritsar. It was a very emotional experience to see the pictorial  gruesome scenario of 1947 partition. The partition lines, drawn on a map by the British lawyer Cyril Radcliffe, divided the states of Punjab into West Punjab and East Punjab on the bases of religion. The West Punjab became the part of Pakistan and the East Punjab remained intact with India. Consequently, millions of people found themselves on wrong side of the Border overnight. As per various estimates, more than 8,00,000 Muslims, Hindus and Sikhs were killed in the riots   that followed the partition between August 1947 to January 1948. More than 14,00,000 Lac people became refugees.

The Govt. of Punjab founded this Museum with the Art and Cultural Heritage Trust of United Kingdom. The work on "Partition Museum" was initiated during Akali-BJP Govt. and completed on August 25,2017. The building which houses "Partition Museum" belong to Municipal Corporation Amritsar. I remember when I was a Local Government & Industry Minister Punjab during Akali-BJP Govt., Smt. Geetika Kalha, the then Principal Secretary Tourism & Cultural Affairs approached me for the transfer of the building of Municipal Corporation Amritsar to be converted into "Partition Museum" to  which I readily agreed. Thus, Time has bestowed upon me the honor to be part of the history of the PARTITION MUSEUM.
