Gujarat -----Statue of Unity & Punjab --------Place of Unity
Prime Minister Mr. Narender Modi inaugurated on 31 October 2018, the 143rd birth anniversary, the Statue of Unity of the Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel, the first Home Minister of India after independence who got merged 550 Princely states in British India after independence, thereby making India United what it stands now geographically. The Statue of Unity is the world tallest Statue, weighing 25000 tonnes and is 182 metre in height, costs Rs. 2989 Crore , can withstand the wind of 180 Kilometer per hour & has a viewing gallery for 200 people, but last not the least is built by World Renowned Sculpturer, Sh. Ram Sutar. The said project was conceived by Sh. Narender Modi as Chief Minister of Gujarat.
Now Gujarat has a Statue of Unity and Punjab already has a Place of Unity------A unique relationship of States. The Place of Unity (Ekta Sathal) is situated on the Punjab- J&K border at Madhopur (Punjab). The Place of Unity (Ekta Sathal) has been built to commemorate Dr. Shyama Prashad Mukherjee whose martyrdom made Jammu & Kashmir an Integral Part of India and is situated adjacent to the road from where Dr. Shyama Prashad Mukherjee entered J&K without permit on May 11, 1953 and was martyred. The said Place of Unity ( Ekta Sathal) has a statue of Dr. Shyama Prashad Mukherjee which is 18 feet in height standing on a 10 feet high pedestal and was unveiled by Sh. Mohan Bhagwat ji Sar Sangh Sanchalak, Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh and Sh. Lal Krishan Advani, Former Deputy Prime Minister of India , Sh. Nitin Gadkari, the then National President BJP and Sh Balbir Punj , Punjab Parbhari & the then National Secretary B.J.P. on March 20, 2010. The said project of Place of Unity was conceived by myself as a the then Local Govt. & Industry Minister Punjab and Leader of the BJP Legislative Group. The said statue has also been built by the same World Renowned Sculpturer, Ram Sutar.
I remember Sh. Narender Modi ji started his election campaign from the Place of Unity, the Ekta Sathal by paying respects to Dr. Shyama Prashad Mukherjee on June 23, 2013 and thus became the Prime Minister of India.
