EMERGENCY WAS IMPOSED IN INDIA ON 25 TH JUNE 1975

25 June 1975 Midnight Emergency was announced and the Fundamental Rights were freezed and M.I.S.A. (Maintenance of Internal Security Act) was implemented by the then President of India. Thousands of Political Leaders were arrested and were sent to Jail. My Father Late Sh Manmohan Kalia Former Minister Punjab was holding key posts in Bharatiya Jan Sangh was arrested at 4 A.M. as the Police knocked the door and jumped from Six Feet Boundary Wall of our house and entered into our Porch where we were sleeping arrested my Father within hours of implementation of emergency . My Mother Late Kadambri Kalia was shocked with the arrest of my father but due to her strong will power she kept on running the family with high spirits, as I was studying in the College my both Sisters Nandani and Mohini were in School at the time Emergency was implemented. Many Friends of my Father used to visit our house to boost and strengthen our will power, as we were not sure when my father will be released. Along with my Father many Senior Akali Leaders of Punjab S Parkash Singh Badal now Chief Minister Punjab, Late S Jagdev Singh Talwandi, Late S Gurcharan Singh Tohra were also arrested , my father learned Punjabi in Ferozepur Jail. My father was released from Ferozepur Jail on 26 Th Jan 1977. Really those memories of those Dark Days of Emergency have memories of terror in my mind and my sisters, I even remember that Punjab Senior B.J.P. Leaders Late Dr Baldev Parkash, Late Babu Hit Abhilashi , Late Thakur Ganpat Rai , Late D.D. Jyoti , Late Lal Chand Sabharwal , Late Vaid Om Parkash Dutt , Late Amar Nath Dogra , Late Babu Jagdish Narain , Late Rajiender Sain Chabra ,Late  Vaid Hans Raj ,Mr Krishan Lal Dhall , Mr Suriender Nath Murgai , and other number of Leaders who were jailed during emergency .
