REMEMBERING OLD MEMORIES OF EMERGENCY My Father Late Manmohan Kalia was arrested on 25 Th June 1975 from our house and remained for 19 Months in Jail .Similarly Hind Samachar Group of News Papers Chief Editor Late Lala Jagat Narain Ji also remained for 19 Months in Jail. As at that time I was studying in College Jalandhar, I used to distribute Hand written News Paper during Mid Night highlighting the excesses during Emergency .I succeeded in getting two pictures from the Album. The First picture was clicked at the Jalandhar Railway station on 26 th Jan 1977 where a warm welcome was given to my father Late Manmohan Kalia Former Minister, Punjab and Late Sh Lal Chand Sabharwal after getting released from Ferozepur Jail .The said picture also shows the presence of , Late Thakur Ganpat Rai , Late Vaid Om Parkash Dutt , Late Bhagat Mohan Lal and others who came to Railway Station to recive my Father , In second picture my father Late Manmohan Kalia is standing with Former Prime Minister of India Late Mr Atal Behari Vajpayee who came to Jalandhar in 1977 to address a rally at Bulton Park Jalandhar City . My father at that time was District convener Janata party and was Election in charge of late S Iqbal Singh Dhillon M.P .My Father was arrested during Emergency firstly under D.I.R. ( Defense of India rules Act ) and later on under Maintenance of Internal Security Act (M.I.S.A.) . He remain in Jail in Ferozepur .Now my father is no more and the Central Jail Ferozepur has also been demolished .
